Colleen Donnelly, L.Ac.
and Board Certified Herbalist
Colleen is a licensed acupuncturist and board certified Chinese herbalist. She completed her masters of acupuncture and Oriental medicine at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon and continued her studies abroad at the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China. She received her undergraduate degree in English Literature from the State University of New York at Albany.
Colleen was first introduced to acupuncture when she experienced a challenging health crisis that Western medicine was not able to help. When she was told she would just have to learn to “live with it”, she tried acupuncture on a friend’s recommendation and discovered that she was able to manage her health issues and experience a greater sense of wellbeing at the same time.
The holistic approach that Chinese medicine offered inspired her to become an acupuncturist. She continues to be impressed by the power and simplicity of the medicine, and likes to say “acupuncture chose her”.
Colleen’s professional belief is that balance in the body can be restored through the proper use of Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and patient education. She uses the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach to treatment, while occasionally integrating elements of Tan and Japanese styles.Additional modalities employed include tuina massage and herbal medicine. Colleen maintains a strong commitment to the promotion of the integration of Traditional Chinese medicine and other forms of complementary, alternative and Western medicine as a future medical model within our healthcare system.
